At The Bat & Ball Country Pub and Haywards Restaurant, we are lucky enough to have a very special building. The pub dates back to the 16th century and, throughout its history, has been a bakery, drapers, barbers, alehouse, grocery shop and brewery. Documents state the the central part of the building with oak pegged beams is the oldest and was originally thatched.
An establishment with so much heritage means our customers are blessed with a quirky building that has been tastefully decorated. With different rooms, areas and nooks, customers often find their favourite spot and we are happy to reserve this for you. Just give us a call on 01403 700199.
If you haven’t visited us before or are thinking of holding a celebration or function at The Bat & Ball Country Pub and Haywards Restaurant take a look at our indoor and outdoor spaces below.
Dining Rooms and Inside Areas
Seats 8 – 16
The snug area is perfect for private functions and intimate dining. A separate room, it allows guests to enjoy each others company away from other diners. The snug is a popular choice for those celebrating and having parties.
The Dining Room
Seats 2 – 8
The dining room is the heart of the restaurant. The dining room is the first area guests see when visiting The Bat & Ball and it does not disappoint. Open plan and tastefully decorated, the dining room is perpetually a buzzing hub of excited diners.
The Lounge Area
Seats 2 – 10
Light and airy with an open log fire in the winter and a large open-faced window front in the summer, the lounge is befittingly cozy. It provides a homey setting for customers to relax in whilst still being provided with a full restaurant menu and attentive table service. Diners can also bring well-behaved dogs to accompany them for lunch or dinner in the lounge.
The Garden Room
The Garden Room is connected to the main dining room but has the addition of two large sliding doors that open onto our beautiful courtyard. Airy and fresh feeling with tasteful decorations, this room can be used as a private room or for regular dining.
Al Fresco Dining
A true ‘sun trap’, the courtyard area provides an outdoor setting for a restaurant meal. With a retractable roof and patio heaters, the courtyard is available in any weather condition for diners that are looking to make their dining experience al fresco. Diners will also enjoy a full restaurant menu with attentive table service with (fingers crossed) a little British sunshine.
