Locals may loathe the traffic on event days but there is no denying that Goodwood is special. The spectacular estate is set in the heart of West Sussex and has a motor circuit, racecourse, numerous restaurants and two premier 18-hole golf courses.
Everything is nestled into an exclusive section of the South Downs National Park and the beautiful 17th century stately home, Goodwood House, stands proudly at the centre of proceedings.
What’s on at Goodwood?
Goodwood has a number of experiences for visitors, from improving your handicap to taking to the circuit in a supercar. You can also take to the Sussex sky in a Cessna or Piper Club aircraft. Prepare to take the controls yourself!
However, most celebrated of all are Goodwood’s flagship events. The year kicks off with the Festival of Speed at the end of June. It’s a chance for petrol heads to get up close and personal with cars, bikes and aeroplanes.
Early August is home to Qatar Goodwood Festival. Also known as Glorious Goodwood, attendees can watch horses hit the furlongs against the backdrop of the Sussex countryside. It is the sporting and social highlight of the flat-racing season.
The last pillar event of the year is Goodwood Revival in early September. It is a celebration of motor racing from the early 1900s and everybody attends in period dress.
